For its very first solidary trip in Nepal, UVS International joined Alsace Nepal in order to help the population. Almost 30 volunteers, with various profiles, took part in this unforgettable humanitarian adventure on the roof of the world.
After the earthquakes series that struck Nepal in April 2015 (the most powerful was measured with a magnitude of 7.9) and led to 8,000 fatalities and as many wounded, it was essential for UVS International to act in Nepal. With Alsace Nepal’s help, which has the field expertise, some schools were selected for different humanitarian projects in Nepal. For the first time, UVS International headed to Gorkha area in order to renovate a school and discover Nepalese culture.
Volunteers had different missions on their schedule:
- Refresh school walls
- Renovate the floor covering
- Set-up a water discharge ditch
- Some sports activities with school children
All the volunteers stayed in host families in order to be involved in local life and immersed in Nepalese culture with special moments such as sharing meals.
